Decentralization & Open Source
Decentralization & Open Source
Updated this week

Streamflow’s long-term strategy is rooted in our commitment to progressive decentralization. We plan to make our core protocol source code available.

Opening our codebase also ensures that Streamflow can evolve rapidly to meet the needs of a dynamic, ever-changing blockchain ecosystem while empowering the broader community to take ownership of the platform’s development.

This move aligns with our mission to create an inclusive and collaborative environment where trust, security, and shared value creation are paramount.

Governance and control of the protocol will be progressively handed over to the community through the launch of the STREAM token and the establishment of a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

The DAO will empower token holders to vote on key decisions, such as protocol upgrades, fee structures, community treasury management, ensuring that the direction of Streamflow reflects the collective will of its users and stakeholders.

This approach not only builds trust within our ecosystem but also creates a self-sustaining model where control, as well as value is distributed among all participants, rather than being concentrated in a centralized entity.

Our decentralization roadmap also includes infrastructure changes to further eliminate single points of failure. Over time, we will transition core components of Streamflow’s architecture to be governed and operated by the community.

This will ensure that Streamflow remains resilient, secure, and censorship-resistant, enabling it to serve as the backbone for on-chain token economies.

Open Source

Parts of the Streamflow codebase are already open source, and on the path of progressive decentralization, Streamflow will open-source more and more components of the Streamflow’s protocol.

This isn't simply about transparency; it's an invitation for developers and builders from all over the world to innovate, and expand on our foundations.

To build projects on top of Streamflow and with Streamflow, take the code in new directions, and join us in shaping a more fluid, programmable, thriving on-chain economy.

We can’t wait to see the ecosystems our community will build, the problems they will solve, and the innovations they will bring to life!
